Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Matter you agree to this Policy.
What we collect
- Account information — your email, username, display name, and password (stored hashed).
- Access request — the email and short bio you submit when requesting access.
- Your entries and comments — the content you write inside Matter, plus the privacy level you choose for each entry.
- Usage data — basic events like when you log in, post, or like, so we can keep the Service working.
- Device data — for crash reporting and abuse prevention (app version, OS, IP at sign-in).
How we use it
- To run Matter — display your entries to the audience you chose, send password resets, deliver verification codes.
- To moderate the platform when we get reports of harmful content.
- To improve the Service through aggregate, non-identifying analytics.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to advertisers.
- We don't train external AI models on your private entries.
- We don't read your private entries except when legally required or to investigate an abuse report.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run Matter — for example our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and our transactional email provider (Resend) — and only what they need to do their job. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your entries and profile data within 30 days, except where we're legally required to retain something longer.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete any entry you've written.
- You can change an entry's privacy level at any time.
- You can delete your account from settings.
- To export or request a copy of your data, email hello@liquidmatter.net.
Children
Matter isn't intended for users under 13. If we learn a child under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll update this Policy when our practices change. Material changes will be announced in the Service.
